Intermittent Silverado Four Wheel Drive Selector Buttons
- Model 2000 Silverado 1500 4x4
- Symptoms
- Intermittent operation of 4WD
- Gets stuck in 4WD, then switches out after some random delay
- Procedure
- Carefully pull off the bezel ring
- It just unclips. Don't break it
- Remove the 4WD push button assembly and unplug from wiring harness
- Look closely at the solder joints on the back of the connector where the wire harness plugs into the push button module
- If the solder joints are cracked (you may need magnification to see the cracks), then resolder
- This is the source of your intermittent problem
- After repairing solder connections, reassemble in reverse order
